At Best Way Carpet and Tile Cleaning, cleanup is always on our minds, so we have compiled a couple of tips that will help our customers who are still in desperate need of carpet cleaning in NJ now that all of the holiday thrills have faded.
- Get the vacuum quickly! First and foremost, you will want to tackle the very noticeable mess that’s left behind once you remove that beautiful Christmas tree from your living room. No matter the carpet color you have, the pine needles, glitter and tinsel will be highly visible. We recommend using the hose attachment for the pine needles and running the entire vacuum over your rug to get the remainder of glitter or dirt that is left behind.
- Inspect for sap! This step is sometimes forgotten because if the tree did leak sap, sometimes it may not be as noticeable as the plethora of needles that were left behind. If sap did get into your carpet, dab a soft cloth with rubbing alcohol and rub the sap-stained area. Other chemicals that can be used in place of rubbing alcohol include ammonia, laundry detergent (make sure there it is bleach-free), stain removers or other cleaning solvents. We recommend testing a small portion of your carpet first (perhaps the portion hidden below the TV stand) to make sure the alcohol will not cause discoloration. After you rub the alcohol into the carpet, blot up the released sap with a different clean cloth. Keep at this until all the sap is removed.
Follow the easy two-step process above, and you will be on your way to a mess-free start to 2014. If all else fails, or if you just want a hand with your post-holiday cleaning needs in New Jersey, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We will take care of that mess for you so that you can focus on other things, like getting started on those New Year resolutions, for example.
